Best Breakfast Places in Waikiki

Are you staying in Waikiki and looking for a good omelet, pancake, or other breakfast food?  Maybe it’s 2 am and you’re finally heading home from a night out at the bars.  If that’s the case you probably don’t care what your food tastes like.  But if you do, here’s some good places that you gotta try out when you’re in Waikiki.

Wailana Pancake House

First up is the Wailana Pancake House. This is a popular place any time of day as it’s one of the top Diners in Hawaii for sure. You’ll find bar goers heading in for pancakes to soak up a night of booze or you’ll find a mid day BLT being ordered after a day of surfing a few of the local Surf Breaks.
Best on the menu is probably the macadamia nut pancakes, but I’d also suggest heading in for just some coffee. It’s delicious.

Eggs ‘n Things

Eggs ‘n Things in Waikiki is another one of those breakfast places that you’ll read about in the Hawaii guidebooks and it’s another place that you shouldn’t be turned off from because of the “tourist trap” nature of it. It’s good food.
You’ll go for the eggs, plane and simple. Although the pancakes, crepe style, and other “things” are just as delicious, you’ll want to go and at least try and omelet, or just a sunny side up set of eggs with a coffee, you’ll want to go back. The restaurant is right across from the post office on Saratoga down the street from the beach. You can’t go wrong. Head out shopping afterward to walk off the food coma.

Mac 24/7

A new comer to the Waikiki breakfast scene is Mac 24/7 in the Hilton Waikiki Beach Hotel on Kuhio (not on the beach). This restaurant is a modern looking and feeling place with a bar, bar food and the biggest pancakes you’ve ever seen. They have the pancake challenge which, one late night I got talked into doing without even the slightest motivation to finish. Let me tell you first hand, it’s ridiculous. Plain and simple. The pancake is huge, and it’s three of them. Even finishing one of the three stack is a feat in itself. Good luck.
Great food though, and vibe. Good mac n cheese too. I suggest that as your late night snack over the mondo pancake challenge.

Duke’s Breakfast Buffet

Finally, I couldn’t leave this one off. Duke’s in Waikiki has one of the best breakfast buffet’s for the price. They even have an omelet guy making fresh omelets right there in front of you. Duke’s is a great atmosphere, and if you can get over the permeating smell of booze from the floor of the “barefoot bar” you’ll find it amazing.
The view from your table will be great as you watch beachgoers wander by with their beach mats, surfboards, snorkels and more. You’ll want to stop here once. Last time I was there the price of the breakfast buffet with coffee was only $13. Great deal.
